Members of Congress and their aides will essentially be exempt from Obamacare, as the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) will issue a ruling that says the federal government can subsidize the health insurance premiums of members of Congress and their aides even though the law does not say so.
This should really P*SS you OFF!!!!! If Obamacare is good enough for ALL Americans, why NOT Congress???
"I had the right to request and restrict as to how my protected health information was used or disclosed. However, when I declined to sign, the computer stopped, and prompted me to talk to the receptionist. She informed me that diagnosis and/or treatment “may be conditioned upon my consent.”
For all of those who think that Obamacare is the best thing since chocolate…think again! Economy is crumbling and even worse, so will your hours of work because businesses and states cannot afford the additional cost…Like your change? Because it doesn’t hold much Hope….
Calling mandate, penalties a ‘tax’ creates huge constitutional problem
…”But a legal challenge to the federal government takeover of health-care decision-making says that’s a problem, because Harry Reid created the Obamacare legislation, with all of its new “taxes,” in the U.S. Senate.”
Overall, this Tennessean article summarizes well yesterday’s House Oversight Committee hearing on the IRS rule that Jonathan Adler and I write about here and here. Unfortunately, the article does perpetuate the misleading idea that the nation’s new health care law is “missing” language to authorize tax credits in federally created Exchanges. (The statute isn’t missing anything. It language reads exactly as its authors wanted it to read.)
Remember how Obama was presented to us about five years ago. He was above politics. He just wanted to bring us together. While politics was small and petty, he wanted to heal our troubled nation, clean the environment and lower the sea levels. (As I recall he would still allow the sun to set in the West.) When he took office he recognized that our economy faced monumental challenges, however, he refused to be diverted by what was of concern to every mere mortal in America. He had bigger, legacy-making fish to fry. Ergo, his health care remake and the regulating of the rest of the economy. The intelligencia swooned. Finally, a president they could admire.
